Arsenal target Steven N’Zonzi hands in transfer request to force move away from Sevilla

The Frenchman has told the Seville-club that he does not see his future there and has asked to leave this summer

STEVEN N'ZONZI has handed in a transfer request to force a move away from Sevilla, according to reports.

Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo spoke with the Frenchman's representative who revealed that the player "wants to leave."

The 28-year-old's agent said: “The truth is that Steven wants to leave this summer.

“Everybody at Sevilla knows that, the president and the technical staff are aware of it and we hope he will be sold this summer.”

Any potential suitors for the playmaker would have to stump up €40 million (£36.1 million) to activate the player's release clause.

N'Zonzi - a player Arsenal has scouted extensively - has enjoyed a fruitful two years since joining the Seville club.

Juventus has also been linked with the N'Zonzi, who signed a new three-year deal in January.

Although Nice's Jean Seri is believed to Arsene Wenger's top choice midfield option.

The midfielder also scored as Sevilla beat the Gunners at the Emirates Cup this summer.

Sam Allardyce brought N’Zonzi to Blackburn for £500,000 from French club Amiens in 2009.

He spent three seasons at Ewood Park and then another three at Stoke, following a £3m move, before joining Sevilla for £7m in 2015.
