SIR Alex Ferguson had a spot of bother when the sat nav in his luxury Mercedes stopped working – and he had to ask locals for directions.

The 75-year-old ex-Manchester United manager was on his way to watch his son Darren’s team Doncaster Rovers play against Blackburn Rovers at the club’s Ewood Park ground in Blackburn, Lancs when he got lost.

The retired football favourite was spotted cruising aimlessly around the back streets of the town – so eventually parked up and asked for help.

Sir Alex eventually made it to the game, which saw football manager Darren’s team win 3-1.

A source said: “It was a really funny sight to see – Sir Alex driving about in his plush car with all the gadgets but having to stop and ask for help.

“Everyone recognises him, so locals were taken aback when he put down his window to ask for them to point him in the right direction because his snazzy sat nav had stopped working.

“It was good to see he wasn’t too proud to ask people in the area – that’s because he’s so down to earth."
