Tottenham face having 20,000 empty seats at Wembley for crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea
Restrictions mean a large upper tier section of the stadium will have empty seats against their fierce London rivals
TOTTENHAM face having up to 20,000 unsold tickets when they host fierce London rivals Chelsea at Wembley, according to reports.
Spurs make their league home debut at England's home of football on Sunday as they continue to renovate the new White Hart Lane.
The Times claims that the club have sold around 70,000 tickets, including 3,000 to away fans, but are unlikely to sell many more due to a number of limitations.
It means a large section of the upper stand at Wembley will remain closed and empty despite the demand for tickets because of the duo's rivalry.
Wembley can hold 90,000 supporters at a football match but the club are not allowed to fill out the ground.
That is because the derby clash is deemed high risk and a safety group have advised for tickets not to go on general sale.
Only fans who registered onto Tottenham's website before July 1 were able to purchase their ticket.
The club sold out all of their Champions League matches at Wembley last season but they will be hoping their record at England's national stadium will improve.
