In an interview with ESPN, Ibrahimovic explained that there were a couple of teams wanting 'Ibra-kadabra' but he always wanted to return to Manchester United to wrap up unfinished business.

During the course of the 2016/17 season, he started 27 times and found the back of the net 17 times but United still found themselves in sixth position.

This year, he is certain that the three new signings can give the Red Devils the power and stability the team need to win the league.

He said: "Signing Lukaku makes us even stronger because he has different qualities from me as a striker and from Rashford as a striker. he is a powerful guy and he brings extra qualities in a game."

Ibrahimovic also spoke of the cohesion that he believes Matic can bring and a stability to the whole team that wasn't there last season.

Losing Rooney who Ibrahimovic described as a 'legend' was a loss to the team he had enjoyed being a part of, but has allowed the Swede to take his number ten shirt.

In the first two games of the season, Manchester United have secured eight goals with four from each game and will look to continue their winning form.

The victories are historic for the club, as it is the first time since the 1907/08 season that they have scored four or more goals in their first two games.

Zlatan was adamant that the Red Devils would win the league, but acknowledged that "in the Premier League there are many rivals, which are the top six, that will give a hard time."

Manchester United face Leicester City at home on Saturday and are looking to secure a hat-trick of victories.
