Leicester were interested in the 27-year-old coming to the King Power Stadium and Chelsea were monitoring his situation as their attempt to sign Danny Drinkwater goes to the wire.

Juventus, Fenerbahce and Lyon also looked at deals to take him when PSG made him available in a short-term deal.

But Pulis managed to negotiate a deal for Krychowiak under the radar as he looks to cover for Darren Fletcher’s departure to Stoke.

Arsene Wenger considered making a move when he needed a new defensive midfielder, but he ended up with Mohamed Elneny.

Krychowiak was recommended by Arsenal scouting reports as an ideal man to plug his problem in defensive midfield and also cover at centre-back.

The 45-cap Polish international brings a wealth of experience to The Hawthorns after spells with Sevilla, Reims and Bordeaux.
