Crystal Palace still hopeful over Mamadou Sakho as Frank de Boer nears Liverpool’s £30m valuation

The Frenchman is eyeing a return to Selhurst Park following an impressive loan spell with the Eagles last term

CRYSTAL PALACE remain hopeful of landing Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho with the end of the transfer window looming.

The Eagles will have to fork out around £30million to meet Jurgen Klopp's valuation for the exiled defender.

Frank de Boer's side have already had one bid of £25million rejected for the Frenchman, but they are not appearing to give up the chase just yet.

Liverpool have remained unwilling to lower their valuation, so a potential deal is set to go down to the wire.

Sakho was sent out on loan last term, but his spell at Selhurst Park ended prematurely due to a knee injury.

The Frenchman spent pre-season with the Reds, but he is yet to feature during this season's Premier League campaign.

However, Palace are not alone in the scramble for Sakho's signature, with West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City also indicating interest in the wantaway defender.

If West Brom sell Jonny Evans, then this could force them to bid for Sakho as a potential replacement.

De Boer is desperate to sign a defender as he looks to restore hope at Selhurst Park following a shambolic start to the season.

The Eagles are yet to score and stand with no points after three games.

He has also expressed his intentions to sign a new shot-stopper, with Tottenham's Michel Vorm emerging as a top target.
