Liverpool striker Divock Origi joins Wolfsburg in £6m season-long loan deal with no obligation to buy

LIVERPOOL forward Divock Origi has completed a £6million season-long loan move to Wolfsburg.

The 22-year-old has fallen out of favour at Anfield, so he will now pursue a new challenge in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool have been assured that the Belgian will be given guaranteed first-team football whilst on loan with Andries Jonker's side.

Wolfsburg will fork out a £6m fee and will pay the player's wages for the duration of his stay.

Following the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea this summer, Origi has fallen down the pecking order under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

However, he is said to be in the bosses long-term plans at Anfield, so there will be no option to make this deal permanent in January.

He has only managed nine minutes of football for the Merseyside outfit this season - featuring in the 3-3 draw against Watford on the Premier League opener.

The former Lille ace has been strongly linked with Tottenham this summer, but Liverpool were reluctant to sell to a rival.

Origi was also offered as part of Liverpool's pursuit for Monaco wonderkid Thomas Lemar, but this move collapsed. Arsenal have now reportedly bid a whopping £90million for the French striker.

The Belgian has become the sixth player to leave Liverpool on loan this summer, including Sheyi Ojo, Pedro Chirivella, Connor Randall, Shamal George and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Origi joined Liverpool from Lille for a fee of £10million in 2014.

Following his debut in 2014, Origi has tallied 12 goals in 21 outings for the Reds.
