Liverpool had a £82million bid for Monaco ace Thomas Lemar rejected on Transfer deadline day
The France international emerged as a late target for the Reds with Philippe Coutinho's future uncertain
LIVERPOOL made a last-minute £82million bid for Thomas Lemar on transfer deadline day, according to reports.
The France international was heavily linked with a summer move to the Premier League with Liverpool and Arsenal interested in securing his signature.
Lemar shot to fame last season as Leonardo Jardim’s men won the Ligue 1 title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The French forward tallied 13 goals in all competitions last season for the French outfit.
The Reds viewed him as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
The Gunners also tabled a deadline day bid of £92m to try and lure the Frenchman to the Emirates.
But Lemar personally rejected their approach in favour of staying at Monaco.
L'Equipe claims the Reds attempted to bring the 21-year-old to Merseyside in the dying hours of the window.

However, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev decided to reject Liverpool's second bid after careful consideration.
The French outlet also claims that Lemar was interested in joining the Reds.
And the reports revealed that Liverpool will consider another offer for the former Caen forward in January.
Lemar is currently on international duty with France and scored twice as they beat Holland 4-0 win on Thursday.
