Hatem Ben Arfa left to rot in PSG reserves after refusing to leave during transfer window

The former Newcastle winger has fallen out of favour under the management of Unai Emery at Parc des Prince

HATEM BEN ARFA has reportedly been demanded to train with the Paris Saint-Germain's reserve squad by boss Unai Emery.

He was linked with a move away from Parc des Prince this summer, but the winger refused to leave.

According to L'Equipe, the former Newcastle ace trained with the PSG reserve team on Monday morning.

Ben Arfa came close to signing a deal with former club Nice during the summer, but he refused to leave unless PSG paid his contract up.

The French outfit would have had to fork out a whopping £6m to cover the outstanding fee's on the 30-year-old's contract.

Ben Arfa experienced similar issues during his time with Newcastle United, when he was made to train with the Under-21 side by boss Alan Pardew.

The Frenchman was then released from his Toon contract in 2015 due to ongoing disputes with the manager.

He has failed to find his feet since joining the French giants a year ago, tallying just nine Ligue 1 appearances in 2017.

The former Marseille winger has failed to cement his position within Unai Emery's well-knit side. He faces competition against the likes of Angel Di Maria, Lucas Moura and Julian Draxler.

Ben Arfa has been unable to replicate the rich vein of form he proved during his final season with Nice, where he netted 18 times in 37 outings.

PSG summer target Jean-Michael Seri's move from Nice reportedly broke down because of Ben Arfa.

Unai Emery offered £14m plus Ben Arfa and an additional £23m to make the move permanent, but the Frenchman refused and blocked the move.
