Furious fans are already plotting a new protest against boss Arsene Wenger when Arsenal take on Chelsea on September 17.

And it appears doom and gloom supporters believe Arsenal could provide one of the biggest shocks in football history... by finishing in the bottom three at the end of the season.

According to Oddschecker, of all bets that were placed on relegation the day after the transfer window shut, 52 per cent of them backed Arsenal.

The Gunners are 1000/1 to be playing Championship football next season.

Reported by Unipaper, George Elek a spokesman for Oddschecker said: "It used to be unthinkable that Arsene Wenger's Arsenal would even finish outside the top four, but the crisis club has some punters predicting that there is still further to fall.

"That over half the bets we have seen have been on a relegation for the Gunners shows just how much faith has been lost in the French manager.

"Despite their fast start to the season, Manchester United are still seen to be the outsiders in the title race behind their old foe."

Arsenal promised it would be a summer of change after the club missed out on Champions League for the first time in 21-years.

But after Wenger penned a controversial extension to his contract, the club made just two signings this summer in Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer.

Star players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are refusing to sign new contracts whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool for £40m on deadline day.
