Andros Townsend defends Frank de Boer as Crystal Palace lose fourth straight Premier League game
ANDROS TOWNSEND has blamed himself and his Crystal Palace team-mates following their fourth straight Premier League defeat against Burnley.
It comes as rumours circulate that Frank de Boer's time at Selhurst Park could be cut short as the Eagles have not gained a point in four games let alone score a goal.
Despite dominating the game against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, Chris Wood put the game to bed after three minutes by scoring the only goal of the game.
The goal came from a suicidal back pass from midfielder Lee Chung-yong.
Which could now add to the pressure of manager Frank de Boer heading for the exit door.
Andros Townsend told Sky Sports after the game: "Not taking chances has been a theme every game so far this season - but that has got to change and the start was a hammer blow.
"We created more clear-cut chances and should have got at least one, maybe two goals, but we didn't and this is a results-based business and we lost again.
"It is down to the players – the manager sets up the team and we created chances but we need to put them away."
The result sees Crystal Palace slip to 19th in the Premier League table.
Club chairman Steve Parish was involved in an angry Twitter spat with Eagles fans after the game.
Crystal Palace will next face Southampton in the early Premier League kick-off next Saturday.
