Manchester City squad board private jet before Watford fixture after travel chaos cancels train

MANCHESTER CITY have been forced to use their back-up option as they travel down to Vicarage Road for Saturday's Premier League meeting.

The Citizens were scheduled to get the train, but a fire close to the tracks forced the bosses to call in the big guns.

Fresh from their 4-0 thrashing against Feyenoord, it is unlikely that a journey on a private jet will dampen the mood of Pep Guardiola's side.

The Citizens took off from Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon, ahead of the their fixture against Watford on Saturday.

The star-studded line-up was expected to travel by rail, but a fire at a nearby timber yard meant that all trains between Milton Keynes and London Euston station were delayed or cancelled.

As a result, Guardiola's men had to wait in the private terminal of the airport for over an hour.

This delay could disrupt the bosses plans as he aims to continue his sides unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign.

City fans will be delighted to see skipper Vincent Kompany among the squad ahead of his return to the starting XI.

The Hornets will be looking to snatch a result from the visitors tomorrow following their unbeaten run to kick-start the new season.

Fresh of the bounce from a 2-0 victory against Southampton, Marco Silva's men will be looking to continue their fine run of form.

City are currently second in the league standings, with equal points to Manchester United - who are currently top of the pile.
