Rooney left to rejoin his boyhood club, Everton, this summer after a 13-year career that saw him rise to become the club's record goal scorer.

The twitter video show fans waiting with anticipation for their old star to step off the bus, when he did they erupted in a hero's welcome.

One fan responded: Deserves every bit of applause and appreciation from Man Utd fans after what he did for mufc great player.

Another said: "Did you expect anything different?"

The United fans have clearly not forgotten what he did for their team for over a decade, with his name still across many of their backs on the red shirt.

Stands outside Old Trafford also featured Rooney flags and merchandise and banners were held up inside the stadium.
