Crystal Palace target Turkish ace Cenk Tosun in a bid to save Premier League status
Former England boss Roy Hodgson has set his sights on the Besiktas star as Eagles remain goalless after seven league games
CRYSTAL PALACE are continuing their pursuit for Besiktas star Cenk Tosun after failing to sign him this summer.
The Eagles are in dire need of a striker after failing to find the net in any of their first seven Premier League outings.
Palace allegedly came close to signing the Turkish star this summer, but a move failed to materialise before the transfer window slammed shut.
As a result, new boss Roy Hodgson is hoping to lure the striker away from Besiktas in January following his explosive form in the Super Lig.
The 26-year-old shot to prominence following his breakout campaign at the Vodafone Arena last term, with an impressive 27 goals in all competitions.
He has already scored four goals and provided two assists so far this season after eight games, including a remarkable long range strike in the Champions League.
Following his blistering run of form, reports suggest that Besiktas have raised his asking price to around £22.4million.
Newcastle United and Tottenham have also indicated their interest in the striker, so Palace will not be alone in their quest for his signature.
The Eagles are yet to register a point in England's top flight, with former chief Frank de Boer getting the sack after just four games in charge.
Hodgson's attack has been left lifeless after talisman Christian Benteke damaged his knee ligaments against Manchester City. He is expected to be out of action until December.
