KEVIN DE BRUYNE may have clocked up 14 goals since he arrived at the Ethiad in 2015.

But he has an even more impressive record with regards to assists- this season alone he has set up 24 goals in the Premier League.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the selfless midfielder admitted he got more enjoyment out of assisting others than finding the back of the net.

De Bryune is incredibly creative in the opportunities he affords his team mates, and fortunately for Guardiola, sees himself staying at City for a long run as they continue to invest and plan for the future.

He said: " Before I get the ball I try to look up, even if my head is not moving, to see what's happening in front.

"If I think there's a chance of playing somebody through I will do it. I think I'm sometimes very direct, sometimes too direct, but I know what's happening before because that's the way we set up, I try to see if they are running and then I trust the team-mates to go."

Cristiano Ronaldo is another player who has an impressive track record, albeit not of late, but he is certainly a player who cares more about scoring himself than others.

Which is what sets De Bryune apart from the rest of the field.

He also boasts a 75% tackle success, this season, proving that he is sturdy and not afraid to get stuck in as well as being forward thinking in creating chances- a perfect combination for any manager.

The Belgium international has flourished under Pep Guardiola and spoke very highly of his boss and the style of football that he has got City playing.

He relishes the chance to play in his current position, which he describes and the deeper areas, middle of the pitch and to the left- where he has managed to make 46 forward passes per game.

The 26-year-old looks to older players at the club, particularly the likes of David Silva who the Belgian claims is under-rated.

De Bruyne has learnt a lot from Silva about retaining the ball and the two of them are a deadly combination who have the most successful passing record in the League this season.

They have both cemented their position as two of the top five players with the most Premier League assists since September 2015- De Bruyne is first with 33, while Silva is fourth with 20.
