VAR will be used for the first time in the Carabao Cup when Chelsea host the Gunners on January 10.

It will then be implemented for the second-leg and during the final at Wembley on February 25.

Serie A and Bundesliga already use the system, and FIFA president Gianni Infantino is hoping that the technology will improve the 2018 World Cup.

The EFL have opted to trial it for the London derby, rather than Bristol City's meeting with Manchester City.

This will not be the first time that video assistant referees will be used in the English game.

It was trialled during England's international friendlies against Germany and Brazil at Wembley in November.
