Peacocks' Spanish technical director Victor Orta is the same man who brought forward to Middlesbrough

ALVARO NEGREDO is a shock summer target for Leeds, according to reports.

Peacocks boss Thomas Christiansen is ready to meet Valencia's £6.4million asking price for the ex-Manchester City striker.

But he faces competition from Swansea, according to The Mirror.

Leeds have the advantage of having Spanish technical director Victor Orta on their books, the same man who brought Negredo to Middlesbrough on loan last season.

Chistiansen hopes the Spanish forward will snub a Premier League return in favour of helping Leeds secure promotion.

The 31-year-old is already in talks with the Swans over a summer move but is said to be open to hearing what Christiansen can offer him.

Valencia have told Negredo to find himself a new club after spending just one full season at the Mestalla.

Last term, he scored ten goals in 38 appearances for Boro but was unable to stop the Teesside club being relegated.

Negredo spent four years at Sevilla before joining Man City for £16.4million in 2013.

City loaned the striker to Valencia the following year, then sold him to the La Liga club permanently for £23.8m in 2015.
