The successful trip Stateside also included a remarkable 4-1 win over Real Madrid and a narrow defeat to neighbours Man Utd.

And the Catalan coach claimed his side played better against Spurs than any other game last term.

But, according to the Express, the club are set to return to China  next year - much to Guardiola's ire.

Just a year ago. the manager was furious with the conditions during their tour of Far East Asia.

The state of the pitch at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing - when City were meant to play United - was so dire, the game had to be cancelled.

And Guardiola is desperate to avoid a repeat with City's preparations pivotal to any potential title challenge.

But he may not have too much of a say - as China provides increasing commercial value to the club.

One of City's major sponsors is Chinese, while Chinese investors also hold a stake in the club.

Even though the trip to Asia may prove to be a hindrance on the pitch, it will aid them financially.

Guardiola will hope this year's trip has primed his players for a successful season.

The Citizens smashed the record for most money spent in a single transfer window.

Signings such as Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and more, took their spending to over £219m.

They may not even be done there. The City manager recently expressed that they can match Real Madrid financially, in the race for French ace Kylian Mbappe.

The Spanish side reportedly had a £161m bid accepted for the youngster, while City are threatening to match that.

Guardiola also hasn't given up on his pursuit of Arsenal's want-away forward Alexis Sanchez, who has just one year remaining on his contract.
