Pep Guardiola on collision course with Manchester City board as chiefs plan pre-season return to China despite nightmare tour last season
Etihad boss furious with plans to tour Far East after trip last term ended in farce with United clash cancelled
PEP GUARDIOLA is unhappy with Manchester City chiefs' plans to tour China next pre-season.
City returned home from their US tour this weekend following Saturday's 3-0 win over Premier League rivals Tottenham in Nashville.
The successful trip Stateside also included a remarkable 4-1 win over Real Madrid and a narrow defeat to neighbours Man Utd.
And the Catalan coach claimed his side played better against Spurs than any other game last term.
But, according to the Express, the club are set to return to China next year - much to Guardiola's ire.
Just a year ago. the manager was furious with the conditions during their tour of Far East Asia.
The state of the pitch at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing - when City were meant to play United - was so dire, the game had to be cancelled.
And Guardiola is desperate to avoid a repeat with City's preparations pivotal to any potential title challenge.
But he may not have too much of a say - as China provides increasing commercial value to the club.
One of City's major sponsors is Chinese, while Chinese investors also hold a stake in the club.
Even though the trip to Asia may prove to be a hindrance on the pitch, it will aid them financially.
Guardiola will hope this year's trip has primed his players for a successful season.
