Watford to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to signing of Brazilian wonderkid Richarlison

Ajax were thought to be in pole position to sign the 20-year-old before Premier League interest came through

CHELSEA and Manchester United are set to be pipped to the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Richarlison by Premier League rivals Watford.

Reports in Brazil claim the 20-year-old striker is set to turn down interest from the Premier League big boys, as well as Dutch outfit Ajax, to sign for the Hertfordshire club.

The Fluminense star, 20, is on the radar of AC Milan, Inter Milan and Sampdoria after a number of stellar performances.

The pacey Brazil Under-20s star likes to play out wide and is a nightmare for defenders with his awkward style and low centre of gravity.

He also has an eye for goal and has managed ten strikes in 21 league matches so far this season.

Chelsea have invested heavily in a Brazilian scouting network to keep tabs on the South American powerhouse’s top young talents.

But The Blues look to have been beaten to the signature by Marco Silva's side.

He is likely to be loaned out once he has signed however, with it looking unlikely he would be able to gain a work permit.

He could get one if he spends two years with another club in the EU.

Ajax were close to signing Richarlison at the weekend, but the Brazilian decided to pull out of a move to the Eredivisie.
