SEVILLA have confirmed the signing of Jesus Navas with arguably the most bizarre transfer announcement ever.

The Spanish international has agreed a return to his boyhood club after being released by Manchester City in June.

But instead of sharing the standard picture of him in his new club's shirt, barmy Sevilla chiefs put out a video of the speedy winger being kidnapped by hooded thugs and then released at their Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

The quirky film shows Navas clearly delighted to be going back to the club where he spent the first ten years of his career.

It was there that he forced his way into the Spain national team squad as he emerged as one of the most highly-rated players in the country.

He finally quit the club in 2013 to complete a £14.8million move to City, where he stayed for the duration of his four-year deal.

Navas quickly made an impression in Manchester, winning the Premier League in his debut season and making 30 appearances.

However, after two more years as an integral member of the City squad, he slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola last season.

He was then released this summer after making a total of 134 appearances at the Etihad, scoring just four goals.

Guardiola has been busy this summer in the transfer window and is set to play new-boy Kyle Walker on the right-wing in a 3-4-3 often this season, taking Navas' role.

Elsewhere, ex-Monaco star Bernardo Silva could see some minutes on the right, with Pep claiming he will play there and through the middle.

Navas made 394 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla, netting 34 times.
