Manchester United ‘make enquiry’ about £30million-rated Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker
MANCHESTER UNITED have "made an enquiry" about Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to reports.
The Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho has been keeping close tabs on the Belgium star - but is not expected to sign him this summer.
Earlier reports today suggested Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in the 22-year-old.
Man United reportedly sent scouts to watch Dendoncker in Anderlecht's 0-0 season opener against Antwerp last weekend.
It is believed United asked about Dendoncker's availability earlier this summer after he scored against them in the Europa League quarter-final.
But, as expected, the £40million arrival of Nemanja Matic at Old Trafford has negated the need for another player in the same position.
Mourinho said former player Matic - who took part in his first United training session today - was a "Jose Mourinho player" and his move had been on the cards for a while.
However, that does not mean that Anderlecht are unwilling to sell £30m-rated Dendoncker, who has also attracted the interest of AC Milan and RB Leipzig.
And club chief Herman van Holsbeek admitted as such when he said of Dendoncker: "We want to cherish him, but if a club is willing to pay between €25m and €35m, we have a problem.
"Against Man United [in the Europa League] he has shown twice that he has the potential to play at a top European club."

Dendoncker has been at the Belgian outfit since his youth days, making his first-team debut in the 2013-14 campaign.
He established himself as a regular in the 2014-15 season and has gone on to play a pivotal role in Anderlecht's squad ever since.
