EUR STAYING

Arsene Wenger tells Alexis Sanchez he will NOT be sold to another English club this summer as Chilean eyes £50m Man City switch

But the Frenchman has not completely ruled out selling him to Euro giants

ARSENE WENGER has told contract rebel Alexis Sanchez that he will NOT be sold to a rival Premier League club this summer.

The Arsenal boss has completely ruled out Sanchez moving to Manchester City or Chelsea - but could still sell him abroad if a significant offer comes in this summer.

Sanchez, 28, is still to sign a new deal to stay at the Emirates and has only 12 months left on his contract.

Arsenal have offered him an improved salary, worth £275,000-a-week, but Sanchez is holding out for more or a move away from North London.

According to The Times, Gunners boss Wenger has told the Chilean there is no chance he will be moving to a Premier League rival.

After returning to training for the first time this summer, Sanchez is said to have left teammates in no doubt that he wants to leave Arsenal.

The forward, Arsenal's top scorer last season with 30 goals in all competitions, sees City as his preferred destination.

Sanchez had fancied a move to Paris Saint-German, but the French club are now closing in on a record-busting move for Barcelona star Neymar.

Man City and Chelsea had both been interested in £50million-plus deals for the former Barcelona man.

But Wenger still believes he can convince Sanchez to stay and sign a new deal - and wants him in the squad to face Leicester in the Premier League opener on August 11.

Sanchez, who had an extended holiday in Chile after the Confederations Cup, trained alone on Tuesday to get his fitness back up.

He has expressed a desire to play in the Community Shield on Sunday but that game will come too soon for him.
