Kylian Mbappe ‘wants to leave Monaco’ following sale of Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s men, Barcelona and Real Madrid in box seat to sign superstar

Ligue 1 champions have seen their best players slowly leave for Europe's top clubs and teen sensation wants to follow suit

KYLIAN MBAPPE wants to quit Monaco with Manchester City and Real Madrid in the driving seat for his signature, according to reports in France.

The teen sensation had been the biggest name in this summer’s transfer window until a certain Brazilian decided to leave Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

Europe’s biggest clubs had all been falling over themselves to sign the 18-year-old and L’Equipe have today revealed he is ready to quit the Principality side.

Real Madrid are reported to have a £160million agreement in place to sign Mbappe, while City are willing to pay big money to land another of the best players on the continent.

Even Barcelona are now in the running as they look for a big name to replace PSG-bound Neymar.

It is understood last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up would be Mbappe’s first-choice.

But, Monaco’s reluctance to sell to their rivals and PSG’s world-record purchase of Neymar means that move seems extremely unlikely.

Leonardo Jardim’s side ended their 17-year wait for a Ligue 1 title as they played some of the most exciting football in Europe.

They even reached the Champions League semi-finals — eliminating Tottenham, City and Borussia Dortmund along the way.

And Mbappe was at the forefront of their success, with 24 goals in all competitions.

However, as expected, Monaco have proven they are largely a selling club and their biggest players have been picked off by Premier League heavyweights.

Chelsea signed Tiemoue Bakayoko, while City helped themselves to Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy.

And it is the latter’s sale which appears to have particularly irked Mbappe — and led to him deciding he must leave.

Thomas Lemar and Fabinho are among Monaco’s other sought-after stars, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid keen respectively.

However, the pair have stayed put — for now.
