Not Lac-ing talent

Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette had the BEST shot conversion rate in all of Europe’s Big Five leagues last season

IT'S early days, but Arsenal's signing of Alexandre Lacazette already looks to be a good piece of business.

The French star, 25, has already found his feet in pre-season - but will need to adjust quickly to the pace and intensity of the Premier League.

That said, another former Ligue 1 ace, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, wasted no time adapting to life in England.

One massive thing going in Lacazette's favour is his shooting accuracy.

In fact, last season - across all of the "Big Five" leagues, no player had a better conversion rate than the ex-Lyon man.

Lacazette found the back of the net with exactly one-third of his shots, finding the net an astonishing 28 times, from just 84 shots.

So while Arsene Wenger tentatively prepares for life without Alexis Sanchez - despite the French boss' recent firm stance - it's fair to say the Emirates front-line is still in good hands.

Arsenal's new man was the only player to shatter the 30 per cent-barrier - with Monaco's most-wanted Kylian Mbappe in second place on 28.9 per cent.

The Real Madrid target found the net 15 times from 52 shots in his breakout season - as he edges towards a £180million move this summer.

Incredibly, Swansea's Fernando Llorente had the joint-second-best shot conversion record in 2016-17, with an identical record to Mbappe - 15 goals from 52 shots.

Timo Werner comes in fourth on 28.4 per cent, with Chelsea new-boy Alvaro Morata boasting an impressive 27.3 per cent record at Real Madrid last term.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (26.7), Harry Kane (26.4) and Radamel Falcao (26.3) also broke into the top ten shot converters in Europe.

Anthony Modeste took ninth spot with 24.8, while Leicester and England man Jamie Vardy completed the list with an impressive rate of 24.5.
