Don Balon reports that United are one of three clubs interested in snapping up the 25-year-old Spain international.

Premier League rivals Chelsea and French champions Monaco are also keen to buy Roberto.

SunSport reported recently how Antonio Conte was also willing to meet the release clause to bring him to England.

Roberto has established himself as a key player within the Barcelona first team squad over the past few years, and can play in a number of positions.

Antonio Conte only used a small core of players last term but this year they will be playing in the Champions League.

The Chelsea preferred XI of last season started at least 26 league games each and eight of them began 30 games or more.

Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses covered the wing-back positions comfortably last season, but the boss needs more options.

But now title rivals Manchester United may have moved themselves into pole position for the Spaniard.
