And Jose Mourinho's men will be faced with daytime temperatures of up to 40 degrees during their short stay in Skopje.

The organisers have made provisions to help players from both sides cope with the hot weather during the game.

And they will arrange a pause on 30 and 60 minutes during the match for players to re-hydrate - if temperatures reach 32 degrees at kick-off time.

As things stand the forecast is that it will be slightly below that when the teams take to the field at the Philip II National Arena - with storms also forecast.

Macedonia has been hit by the heatwave which has affected much of southern Europe.

The two European giants both left for Skopje on Monday morning, ready to take to the pitch for Tuesday's night's showdown.

Suited and booted for the trip to Macedonia, Cristiano Ronaldo captioned a picture of himself saying he was “looking good,” as he walked through Madrid airport with his team-mates.

Gareth Bale – a transfer target for the Red Devils, was also included in Zidedine Zidane’s 24-man squad after fears he would miss the match after limping out of a recent training session.

Also included were the likes of Karim Benzema Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and summer signings Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos.

The Los Blancos were all looking rather dapper as they rocked Hugo Boss suits as they gear up to extract revenge on United after losing on penalties in the International Champions Cup clash in America.

Jesse Lingard scored in that 1-1 draw in the pre-season clash, and he will be hoping to start for Jose Mourinho’s side after being selected in his squad.

Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic will all be pushing to be in the starting 11 for their competitive debuts and claim their first piece of silverware with United.
