'I WILL FIGHT OTHER COACHES'

Gareth Bale to Manchester United: Jose Mourinho reveals he would ‘fight’ to bring the Real Madrid star to Old Trafford if he was available

Old Trafford chief says he would 'fight other coaches' to try and bring Welsh wonder back to Premier League

JOSE MOURINHO has revealed he is trying to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

The Portuguese manager’s Manchester United side take on the Welsh star’s La Liga giants in the Uefa Super Cup on Tuesday.

And ahead of the clash he has revealed he would “fight” to bring the 28-year-old to Old Trafford should he not figure in Madrid’s future plans.

Mourinho said: “Well if he's playing tomorrow, no I wouldn't think of that, it’s because he's in the coach's plans and the club's plans, because he also has that motivation to continue at RM.

“So I haven't even thought about the possibility.

“If he is not in the club's plans, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that would want him on their team.

“But if he plays tomorrow, that is the best confirmation that he is wanted by the team.”

Mourinho was caught on camera joking with the former Tottenham attacker when the two clubs met in the International Champions Cup in America.

The Red Devils boss cheekily told him: "I can't buy you because you don't talk to me."

Bale has been plagued by injuries since arriving in Spain, recently limping out of a training session as Madrid gear up to face United.

And Bernabeu chief Floertino Perez could be tempted to cut losses on Bale.

He has cost them a staggering £1.8MILLION per goal, and £830,000 a game.

As he enters his fifth season with Real, he is looking to build on his 67 goals, as well as three Champions League crowns and one La Liga title.

One of the clubs that could rival United for Bale's signature is Chelsea.

Reports emerged earlier today that the Blues have emerged as serious contenders.

It is also alleged that Perez values the winger at a modest £90million – £5m more they paid Spurs in 2013.

Meanwhile, one player who will not be featuring against Madrid for United tomorrow is the banned Phil Jones.

Jones was suspended by Uefa for two European matches after verbally abusing an anti-doping officer.

And Mourinho wants his side to claim the victory in honour of his defender.

“Jones I was expecting the appeal would be negative and the only thing I hope is that tomorrow the team that wins if some player wants to celebrate and get his medal and his cup.

“If some player wants to enjoy with his team-mates I just expect that the doping committee send someone with him and don’t close him in room and stop him celebrating a special moment.”
