Super Cup – Manchester United vs Real Madrid team news: United target Gareth Bale STARTS, while Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench

Ronaldo is back from an extended break and starts only on the bench as Nemanja Matic starts for Red Devils

GARETH BALE starts for Real Madrid tonight in their Super Cup clash against Manchester United.

Bale - who Jose Mourinho hinted he wants to sign for United -  has been given the nod by boss Zinedine Zidane.

For United, Romelu Lukaku starts up top, with Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic also in for Mourinho.

Ronaldo has not featured for the Spanish club so far after taking an extended break at the end of the Confederations Cup.

Unlike Ronaldo, United target Bale starts for Real.

And the Real manager Zidane remained coy when quizzed about Mourinho's comments on Bale as he faced the media yesterday.

Zidane said: “What’s important is that the player is feeling well. He’s had a lot of continuous training sessions with us and that’s what is important.

“At the end of last season it wasn’t easy for him. He was out for four months but now he is very concentrated.

“We’re concentrating on what we’re doing and that’s what is important. Bale is a Real Madrid player that’s all I can say. I want to talk about tomorrow’s match.”

Meanwhile, £40m addition from Chelsea Matic starts for his new club in defensive midfield.
