CRISTIANO RONALDO nearly crocked himself ahead of tonight's Super Cup clash with old club Manchester United after slipping as he left the Real Madrid team bus in Macedonia.

The Galacticos star, 32, took a tumble on his arrival in baking hot Skopje, but narrowly avoided an embarrassing faceplant as he regained his footing.

Portuguese star Ronaldo is expected to start the clash with former employers United in the annual European curtain-raiser.

CR7 is yet to turn out for Zinedine Zidane's Madrid this summer after taking an extended break following the Confederations Cup.

But he looks set to start against Man United, the team he left for a then-world record £80million back in 2009.

Romelu Lukaku is set to start up top with Marcus Rashford also getting the nod from boss Jose Mourinho.

Gareth Bale – who Mourinho hinted he wants to sign for United – is also looking likely to start for Zinedine Zidane.

The Frenchman remained coy when quizzed about Mourinho’s comments on Bale as he faced the media.

Zidane said: “What’s important is that the player is feeling well. He’s had a lot of continuous training sessions with us and that’s what is important.

“At the end of last season it wasn’t easy for him. He was out for four months but now he is very concentrated.

“We’re concentrating on what we’re doing and that’s what is important. Bale is a Real Madrid player that’s all I can say. I want to talk about tomorrow’s match.”

Mourinho has vowed to "fight" to land Bale this summer - however some have suggested it's nothing more than mind-games ahead of the clash.

Meanwhile, Uefa will allow players to indulge in drinks breaks during the game in Skopje due to the soaring temperatures across Europe.

The game kicks-off at 7.45pm at the 33,460-seater Philip II Arena tonight.
