Why are Manchester United and Real Madrid playing Super Cup at National Arena Philip II in Skopje, and what is the temperature in Macedonia?
The game used to always be played in Monaco
MANCHESTER UNITED and Real Madrid meet in the Super Cup final.
Usually the game played between the winner of the Champions League and the winner of the Europa League is hosted at the Stade Louis II in Monaco, but this year it will be in sweltering Macedonia.
Why is the Uefa Super Cup being played in Macedonia?
The Stade Louis II in Monaco had always hosted the Super Cup until 2013, but Uefa decided to rotate venues and last year the National Arena Philip II in Skopje was chosen.
The 33,460 stadium - in the capital of Macedonia - will instead host the contest.
What is the temperature going to be, and are Uefa allowing water breaks?
Macedonia has been hit by the heatwave which has affected much of southern Europe.
If temperatures reach 32 degrees at kick-off time, then Uefa will organise a pause in play on 30 and 60 minutes for players to re-hydrate.
As things stand the forecast is that it will be slightly below that when the teams take to the field at the Philip II National Arena – with storms also forecast.
What TV channel is the Uefa Super Cup on?
BT Sport hold the UK rights to all Uefa competitions.
The match is set to be broadcast on BT Sport 2.
Live coverage starts at 7pm, and the match kicks off at 7.45pm.
