HERO'S RETURN?

AC Milan have ‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic fever’ and will bid to tempt him to ditch Man Utd and return to San Siro

Serie A giants crave reunion with 35-year-old Swede who scored 56 goals in 85 appearances for them between 2010 and 2012

Italian paper Corriere dello Sport claim Milan have caught 'Ibra fever' and hope to team him up with another strike target in Nikola Kalinic.

Ibrahimovic, 35, is actually embroiled in talks with Manchester United for whom he was immense last season before a serious knee injury cut his season short.

NOT PICKED YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM YET? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

In fact, it looked like Ibrahimovic’s Old Trafford career was over after damaging a cruciate ligament in the Europa League clash against Anderlecht in April.

But he has been training at United's Carrington AON complex for his rehabilitation and is understood to want to remain at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho splashed out £75million on a replacement in Romelu Lukaku but has hinted that a new deal could be on the table for Zlatan, saying:

"Maybe he’ll stay with us. 'He’s not got a contract but he’s still close to Manchester.

"We spent big money on a striker because, with strikers, you either spend or you don’t get.

“We spent because of what happened to Zlatan and we cannot allow ourselves to be without an important, strong striker for the first six months of the season.”

But Milan sporting director Massimo Mirabelli refused to rule out a return to the San Siro for Ibrahimovic, who scored 56 goals in 85 appearances for them between 2010 and 2012.

The Italian said: “Ibrahimovic? In life, never say never. Maybe an old acquaintance of ours could come back."
