Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp coy on Philippe Coutinho’s future… but is happy to joke about losing his virginity

The Reds boss has revealed that nothing has changed on the Brazilian's situation as Liverpool prepare to face Hoffenheim in Champions League qualifier

JURGEN KLOPP stunned journalists by joking about losing his virginity - while also giving an update on Philippe Coutinho's future.

The Liverpool boss was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's Champions League qualifier first leg in Hoffenheim.

Klopp joked around with a German journalist when he was asked: "Do you remember your first time?"

He responded by quipping: "Of course I do.

"Do you remember your first time?”

The reporter then had to rephrase her question in reference to the Champions League, instead of just singing along to her favourite Pulp song.

Klopp then got back to the serious questions on hand to answer - Brazilian midfielder Coutinho's future.

The former Inter Milan ace has handed in a transfer request at Anfield in a bid to force through a move to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have had two offers knocked back by Liverpool this summer - having a £90m bid rejected by the Reds days ago for the 25-year-old.

Klopp revealed today: "Nothing has changed in the last few days on either side."

He was then asked whether Coutinho's omission from the side to face the Bundesliga outfit was due to his reported back injury that saw him miss the 3-3 draw with Watford, or a potential move to the Catalan club.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund gaffer added: "I'm not sure what you're asking about.

"He's not available for us at the moment. That's the main issue.

"He cannot play for Liverpool at the moment.

"That's quite a blow for us. We've known for a few days about it so we prepared for this game without him."

Liverpool released a statement last week where they reiterated their desire to keep hold of their prized asset.

They said: "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
