Davinson Sanchez tells Ajax he wants to join Tottenham before end of transfer window as officials travel to Amsterdam for talks
Mauricio Pochettino has remained resilient and made no summer additions, but could spend Kyle Walker money
HIGHLY-RATED centre-back Davinson Sanchez has told Ajax he wants to join Tottenham, according to reports.
Despite the majority of Premier League title challengers splashing the cash in order to strengthen ahead of next season, Spurs have so far held firm and refused to bring in any new faces.
But, The Independent claim a deal for the Colombian could be close with Spurs delegates in Amsterdam to thrash out a deal — and he was left out of the opening day defeat to Heracles.
Sanchez’s importance was evident as last season’s Europa League finalists lost against their Eredivisie rivals for the first time in 52 years.
Despite Ajax having sold their top talent throughout their illustrious history, it is understood they are holding out for upwards of £45million.
And that would make him the club’s highest-ever sale — and record purchase for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino has decided to put his faith in Tottenham’s youth system as the costs of a stadium move take a hold.
However, he has the cash to spend on an elite level defender, having raked in £50m from allowing Kyle Walker to join Manchester City.

Sanchez, 21, is one of a number of top, young talents at the Amsterdam Arena, and would find Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen as former Ajax players in North London.
He joined from Atletico Nacional last summer, and his performances have seen Barcelona among the clubs interested in signing him.
However, the Catalans are expected to sign his international centre-back partner Yerry Mina from Palmeiras.
