And with a trip to Swansea approaching this weekend, it was refreshing to see superstars including Juan Mata pen his name on a fan’s jersey while Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard stopped for snaps.

But just the arrival of United’s players was enough to get supporters salivating, with each Red Devils cruising into Carrington behind the wheel of a luxury car.

A number of aces turned up in big Mercedes 4x4s, while others arrived in vehicles ranging from Ferraris and Audis to Bentleys.

And lucky fans who got up close and personal with their idols at the gates looked delighted.

United have made a storming start to the Premier League season, with new signing Romelu Lukaku scoring twice against the Hammers.

And Mourinho is sure to be feeling confident when his side meet Swansea in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Paul Clement is reeling from the £40million departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton.

The Welsh side drew their first game of the campaign 0-0 against Southampton.

But Man Utd’s new-look team which combines strength and technique could just come a tad too early.
