Leicester vs Brighton: When does Premier League match kick off, and what TV channel is it on?

Newly promoted Brighton must travel to Leicester City hoping to avoid Vardy's blistering start

LEICESTER'S entertaining style looks to be back despite an unlucky loss against Arsenal last Friday but admirable Brighton stand in their way.

Jamie Vardy was certainly on the ball and looks to be back to his best, with a brace against Arsenal. With direct runs in behind splitting apart Arsenal's back three.

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez also looked sharp, despite an alleged move away to Italian giants Roma.

Craig Shakespeare chose the classic 4-4-2 formation, with resilient striker Shinji Okazaki playing just deep of Vardy. With shades of the once title-winning Leicester evident through bursts of exciting attacking movement providing a glimmer of hope for fans, with those glorious memories fresh in the mind.

English defender Harry Maguire showed solid spells throughout, however the 24-year-old and his defensive colleagues were ultimately overpowered by the might of Arsenal who won the classic 4-3.

The game against Brighton however will give Leicester the opportunity to dominate, the Seagulls were deprived of a chance to hold the ball against Manchester City, leaving them with 21% possession. However, it is direct passes in behind from all areas of the pitch which is their forte, and with their possession will use direct wingers on both sides to cut through Brighton.

Where the seaside team will thrive is through battling with high pressure and counter attack football with one of the main outlets being Anthony Knockaert, a former Leicester midfielder and last season's Championship player of the year. The Frenchman possesses a judicious style of play with distinguished technicality. And is certainly an asset to manager Chris Hughton.

The game has the potential of a great spectacle, both sides are capable of scoring goals, former Premier League striker Glenn Murray is an accomplished finisher, and if he starts, will surely be a threat.

Fact me

  • These two sides last met in the 2013-14 season in which Leicester won the Championship, with the Foxes losing both clashes, equating to a third of their total defeats in that campaign.
  • Indeed, Brighton also won home and away in their last encounters with Leicester in the top-flight in 1980-81.
  • Brighton & Hove Albion scored four times on their last away visit to Leicester, as many as in their previous 11 trips combined (all comps).
  • Leicester City are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League home fixtures against newly-promoted sides, winning seven and drawing five since a 0-5 loss to Bolton in August 2001.
  • Leicester won five of their seven Premier League home games under Craig Shakespeare last season (D1 L1), but did end the season without a win in their last two, including a 1-6 defeat to Spurs.
  • Since the start of the 2014-15 season, only one Englishman (James Milner, 21) has provided more Premier League assists than Jamie Vardy (19).
  • Brighton summer signing Pascal Groß covered more distance on MD1 than any other Premier League player (12.8 KM).
  • Andy King scored the winning goal the last time Leicester City beat Brighton at home in October 2012, whilst both teams were in the Championship.
  • Brighton forward Anthony Knockaert made 109 competitive appearances for Leicester City, scoring 16 goals overall. He failed to score in any of his nine Premier League apps for the Foxes, however.
  • Jamie Vardy was one of four players to register a brace on the Premier League’s opening weekend, however he was the only one to do so with a 100% shot conversion rate (two shots, two goals).
