TOTTENHAM fans approaching the new season at Wembley with trepidation will be heartened by images that show their new stadium taking shape.

The £750million, 61,000-seat arena will be ready for Spurs to play in from the start of the 2018/19 season.

While their imposing new home is under construction, Tottenham will play this season's home games at Wembley Stadium.

Their first Premier League match at the home of English football takes place this Sunday when Chelsea visit.

Spurs fans will not be approaching life in their temporary home with great confidence after a torrid experience in the Champions League season.

The north London club played their home matches in Europe's elite tournament at Wembley and crashed out in the group stage after winning just one of their five games.

They even tried to reduce the Wembley pitch size this season, but were denied by the Premier League.

Tottenham bid an emotional farewell to White Hart Lane, their home of 118 years, at the end of last season.

However, their new stadium is being built alongside their old home - with part of the new pitch overlapping the old playing area.

Fans have dubbed the stadium the 'New White Hart Lane' but the club will likely name the venue after a major sponsor.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly wants to raise £400m in naming rights as the club seeks to match football's elite in terms of commercial income

Work on the new Spurs stadium was well underway last season and has really taken off since the club left White Hart Lane.

The compact Lane was renowned for the intense atmosphere Tottenham supporters created there.

But the club hope the new stadium will also be an intimidating venue for rival teams to visit.

Fans will be seated as close as five metres from the pitch in what will be London's largest club stadium.

The single-tier south stand will hold 17,500 spectators, which Spurs will hope will rival The Kop at Anfield or Borussia Dortmund's 'Yellow Wall'.
