Southampton star Virgil van Dijk sends Chelsea and Liverpool fans into transfer frenzy after being snapped in a London office
The centre-back has handed in transfer request and is wanted by the free-spending duo this summer
CHELSEA and Liverpool fans have been sent into a frenzy after a snap of Virgil van Dijk in a London office emerged on social media.
Instagram story user @philipuby posted the picture of Van Dijk leaning back in a chair with the caption ‘big dog’ on top of the word ‘LONDON’.
The centre-back has put in a transfer request at Southampton and is wanted by both Chelsea and Liverpool.
If Van Dijk is indeed in London, the picture could suggest that’s he’s travelled for transfer talks with the Blues.
However, Liverpool also have an office in the capital and could also be the club doing business with the Dutch defender.
Unfortunately for fans of both teams, the picture was later deleted, although that has only added fuel to the flames as far as transfer rumours are concerned.
Despite Van Dijk’s desire to leave, Southampton have no intention of letting him go.
Manchester City are also believed to be interested and could offer well over £60million.

But chairman Ralph Krueger insists he will not be intimidated, saying: “Nobody is for sale that we don’t want to sell and so he is not for sale in this window. We have said it more than once.
“Mauricio Pellegrino has done an amazing job of dealing with this situation. It has not disrupted our team.
“It has not in any way caused a lack of focus in training, in the locker room, and of course everybody will open their arms when Virgil comes back and we go at it.”
