Tottenham have been ‘outbid by Lyon’ for Celta Vigo’s £15million-rated Pape Cheikh Diop
But 20-year-old midfielder is keen on a move to London
TOTTENHAM are battling Lyon for top target Pape Cheikh Diop.
The north Londoners have already seen a bid rejected for the midfielder and, according to reports, have now been outbid by the Ligue 1 club.
As SunSport revealed last week, Spurs are in for the Celta Vigo midfielder after being priced out of a move for Everton's Ross Barkley.
The Daily Mail report that Ligue 1 side Lyon have now made a bigger bid than the £9million offer Spurs are said to have already made.
However, the 20-year-old prefers a move to London.
Lyon have made a lucrative wage offer to Diop, who has been capped for Spain at Under-18 and U19 level.
Celta Vigo want closer to £15m for the midfielder, despite him starting just six matches in all competitions last season.
The Spanish side are under no pressure to sell with the Senegal-born star having a £25m release clause on a contract that runs until 2021.

Star players Dele Alli and Danny Rose continue to be linked with moves away, however.
Although chairman Daniel Levy has stated that Alli would not be sold for any price - even £150m.
