Sergi Roberto suitors Chelsea and Manchester United warned to back away by Barcelona with star not for sale
Versatile midfielder unhappy with signings in his positions but could yet stay put as Ernesto Valverde sings praises
MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have been told to forget about signing Barcelona star Sergi Roberto.
The versatile midfielder is unhappy at the Nou Camp following the arrival of Paulinho, with Nelson Semedo also taking his spot at right-back.
Roberto feels he won’t get many opportunities under new boss Ernesto Valverde as a result.
And the Spain international is now hunting for a new club, with his £35million release clause making him an attractive prospect.
United are believed to be interested as they hunt for a fourth and final signing before deadline day.
While Chelsea are also weighing up a move with their squad looking desperately light on numbers – especially in the centre of the park.
However, Barca boss Valverde is adamant that Roberto will not be sold this summer.
And although he concedes the ace won’t start every game, Roberto will see enough action to keep him happy and content.

Valverde said: “Of course (I want to keep Roberto), I am absolutely counting on him.
“In some games he will be a major player and in some games no, but he remains an important player.”
