Chelsea line up ‘double your money’ move for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld
Antonio Conte's side plotting big moves in remaining time of summer window now plan raid on Spurs
CHELSEA are lining up a 'double your money' move for Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, according to reports.
Antonio Conte's side have made an enquiry about the Belgium star's interest in leaving Tottenham, report the Sunday Times.
Alderweireld has three seasons remaining on a contract that pays a basic £49,000 per week.
But the 28-year-old could expect to double that amount at Stamford Bridge, it is claimed.
It is thought that discussions between Alderweireld and the club over a new deal have progressed poorly.
The Sunday Times claim that chairman Daniel Levy is refusing to increase the centre-back's salary to the club's £80,000-per-week ceiling.
Conte has spoken of the need to add "quality and quantity" to his squad for their return to the Champions League.
