Tottenham interested in Argentine starlet Juan Foyth and could swoop for Estudiantes defender before end of window

Last season's Premier League runners-up monitoring Under-20s ace but South American reports of him flying to London to complete move within 24 hours are premature

TOTTENHAM are interested in signing Argentinian starlet Juan Foyth – although no deal is in place for the Estudiantes youngster, contrary to reports.

The 19-year-old defender’s progress has been monitored by Spurs for some time.

Reports from his homeland claimed on Monday that the North London outfit had agreed a fee of around £9million with the South American club to bring him to the Premier League.

But claims from Cielosports that Foyth would be boarding a flight to England in order to finalise his move within the next 24 hours are premature.

Although a potential swoop could still happen before the end of the month.

The Under-20s international had appeared to be on his way to France as Paris Saint-Germain were strongly linked with the ace.

However, that potential switch has failed to materialise and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino may be tempted to step-up his interest in the centre-half over the next week or so.

Poch has been happy to bide his time in this summer’s transfer window.

Since then, he has gone on to make seven league appearances.

He has also been capped 12 times at U20s level for his country.
