Manchester City to commemorate victims of Manchester and Barcelona terror attacks by wearing red and yellow worker bee on shirt
MANCHESTER CITY will commemorate the victims of the Manchester and Barcelona terror attacks by wearing a red and yellow worker bee on their shirts for tonight's game against Everton.
Some 15 people died in the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils last week while 22 were killed when a suicide bomber targeted an Ariana Grande gig in the MEN arena last May.
City confirmed on their website they will wear the worker bee - a symbol of the city - tonight with the Catalan colours.
A statement said: "Manchester City will kick-off their home campaign against Everton tonight proudly wearing shirts which feature the worker bee in what will be the club’s first fixture at the Etihad Stadium since the Manchester attack in May.
"And, in a show of unity and togetherness, the iconic symbol will also in part, incorporate the red and yellow colours of Catalonia following Thursday’s tragic events."
And fans were quick to praise the move.

City will also host first responders from Greater Manchester Police, British Transport Police and the Manchester Ambulance Service at tonight's game to thank them for the vital work they continue to do in service to the city.
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive Officer at Manchester City, said: "The people of this great city continue to demonstrate an unbelievable sense of community spirit through their ongoing efforts to raise funds following the tragic events at Manchester Arena.
"In what will be Manchester City’s first home fixture since the attack, it is fitting that our players will wear the worker bee on their shirts, together with black armbands, as our club and fans come together to show solidarity with fellow Mancunians, and unity with all of those affected in Catalonia following Thursday’s devastating events."
