PHILIPPE COUTINHO is ready to smooth things over with Liverpool after accepting his Barcelona dream is over.

The Reds star, 25, handed in a transfer request this month in a bid to join the Catalan club.

But Liverpool rejected his request, as well as three Barcelona bids this summer.

But Barca are now turning to other options after finding their efforts blocked.

Coutinho has been left in limbo and the Independent reports he is ready to return for Liverpool.

Klopp has been clear in his desire to keep Coutinho, who scored 14 goals in all competitions last season.

Coutinho has missed the first two Premier League games of the campaign with the club citing injury.

But once fit he is expected to re-join the team after holding talks with Liverpool.

Coutinho signed a new five-year deal in January to keep him at the club until 2022.

He said at the time: "I signed this new contract to stay here for a few more years because it’s a great honour for me.
