Kyle Walker-Peters signs new Tottenham contract keeping him at club until 2020
Right-back rewarded for surge into first-team squad with improved deal as Mauricio Pochettino puts faith in England under-20 World Cup winner
KYLE WALKER-PETERS has signed a new contract to keep him at Tottenham until the end of the 2020 season.
Walker-Peters has been rewarded for breaking into the first-team squad at Spurs with an improved new deal - his third in the space of 18 months.
The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut against Newcastle on the opening day of the season, turning in an impressive display in the 2-0 win at St James' Park.
And manager Mauricio Pochettino has put his faith in the youngster coming through and becoming a regular part his first-team squad this season.
Tottenham had been chasing a new right-back after selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50million earlier in the summer.
But such has been the progress Walker-Peters has made over the last few months, Spurs may well decide against bringing in a new player in favour of trusting Walker-Peters to do the job.
Kieran Trippier is now regarded as the first choice right-back at the club, with Walker-Peters as his understudy.
And his displays over pre-season and in the win at Newcastle look to have convinced Pochettino he does not need to sign anyone else in that position.
