CRAIG DAWSON has signed a new three-year deal with West Brom – which could open the door to Jonny Evans’ exit to Manchester City.
The new and improved deal for the defender will run until 2020 and was confirmed by the Baggies on Wednesday.
And after securing the 27-year-old’s future and the expected arrival of Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham, Tony Pulis may decide to cash in on the former Manchester United star.
West Brom told Etihad chiefs that they were only willing to do business if they came back with a £35m bid.
That put Pep Guardiola’s outfit off the chase, but the combination of Dawson’s extension and the signing of Wimmer could see Pulis lower his asking price and City reignite their interest.
After committing his future, Dawson said: "I've always felt very settled here and I'm delighted to have reached this agreement.
"It has been quite a journey so far but I still feel there is a lot more of the journey to come.

"I try to be consistent and play my part for the team but it never gets any easier at this level and as a footballer I know I've got to keep improving.

Manchester City could even switch their attention to Middlesbrough centre-half Ben Gibson.
Reports suggested yesterday that they were plotting a £20m swoop for the Boro-born stopper.
