Mendy was fined £60 for parking his £250,000 Ferrari in a taxi rank as he picked up a Nando's takeaway in Manchester city centre this week.

After being teased by fans on Twitter, the Frenchman tweeted Nando's with the message "new parking spots needed pls".

The South African chicken chain was quick to respond, tweeting a mocked-up photo of a parking spot outside one of its restaurants with "Reserved - Mendy" painted on the ground.

"We got you covered for next time Benjamin," Nando's wrote next to the image.

Mendy, who joined City from Monaco last month, kept the gag going by tweeting: "Ahahah will definitly take my next date there."

One cheeky fan responded by tweeting: "Hi, I'm single!"

The whole saga begun when football journalist Shane Burns tweeted Mendy after he fell 'fowl' of the parking officer, saying: "That was one expensive Nando's son"

Mendy, who normally plays as a left-back or left wing-back, has yet to make his debut for City.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined by a thigh injury he has been nursing for eight months.

However, he could be set to finally appear for his new club when they play at Bournemouth in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.

Mendy has previously proved he loves to joke on Twitter - something that got him in trouble when he poked fun at Brighton defender Lewis Dunk's own goal against City.

The Frenchman was accused of being disrespectful by England legends Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, who were working as TV pundits on the match.

Mendy's response was to tweet again, showing that he didn't really take the whole thing very seriously

Mendy has also joked with the photographers camped outside his Manchester hotel.

The French international took a selfie with one them and posted it on Twitter.
