Watford sign right-back Dimitri Foulquier from their old sister club Granada
WATFORD have raided their former Spanish partners Granada to sign French defender Dimitri Foulquier.
The right-back, 24, shone during his four years in La Liga and captained the southern-based club last season.
But Granada have now cashed in on former France Under-21 international Foulquier following their relegation in May.
The Hornets had re-opened negotiations with Arsenal over their right-back Kieran Gibbs but boss Marco Silva looks to have turned to Foulquier instead.
A club spokesman said: "The French full-back Dimitri Foulquier has been transferred to Watford in England following an agreement between the two clubs.
"The player wore our red and white shirt in 98 matches, and became one of our captains in recent seasons.
"We wish him all the best for this new stage of his career."
Paris-born Foulquier grew up on the French Caribbean island Guadeloupe.
