Tottenham to miss out after being outbid by Lyon for central midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop
Celta Vigo star looked set for North London after talks but instead he's now heading to France for a medical
TOTTENHAM'S bid to land Spanish Under-19 midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop looks like a lost cause.
The Celta Vigo player looks bound for Lyon instead.
At one stage it looks as though Spurs were favourites to sign the Senegal-born player.
The 20-year-old was reported to have held talks with the North London giants and a £15million deal looked as though it was on.
Diop made 19 appearances for Celta Vigo last season and is thought to be one of the brightest young players coming through the Spanish system.
The Celta kid is a box-to-box midfielder and he looked perfect for Maurico Pochettino's system.
But now Lyon are closing in on the player after bettering Tottenham's offer.
According to the Daily Mail the French club have offered £13.8m plus £9m in add-ons.
