Divock Origi’s dad claims Tottenham are closing in on Liverpool’s frustrated Belgian striker
Mike Origi claims his son needs regular football and moving to Premier League rivals Spurs could bring just that
TOTTENHAM are closing in on a deal for Divock Origi, according to the Liverpool striker's dad.
The Belgium international made 34 Premier League appearances last season, scoring seven goals.
But Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp has left the 22-year-old out of his last two matchday squads, and is willing to let him leave.
Origi's prospects seem set to recede further if the Reds sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
Meanwhile, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is eager to add the Ostend-born ace to his squad.
Tottenham have managed just four goals in as many Premier League games with Harry Kane yet to score.
Origi has also been linked with Marseille, former club Lille and Belgian champions Anderlecht.
He fears a lack of first-team football will cost him his place in Belgium's World Cup squad next summer.

His father, former Kenya international Mike Origi, said: "Divock needs to leave Liverpool in order to get time out on the pitch.
"A move to Tottenham is a possibility for him. But there is also interest in him from clubs in France and Germany."
But he added: "We haven't had any approaches from Anderlecht."
Liverpool paid Lille £10million for Origi in July 2014, straightaway loaning him back to the Ligue 1 club for a year.
He has won 22 Belgium caps, scoring three goals.
