Liverpool confirm Naby Keita capture after reaching agreement with RB Leipzig to sign superstar for club-record fee
Reds have secured midfielder for 2018 transfer after meeting £48million release clause and ace admits he can't wait to join
LIVERPOOL have confirmed the club-record signing of RB Leipzig superstar Naby Keita.
The midfielder will move to Anfield on July 1 2018 after Jurgen Klopp met the £48million release clause which becomes live in his contract next summer.
Keita has emerged as one of Europe’s leading young players following a barnstorming season with Leipzig.
The Germans finished second in their debut Bundesliga campaign, with Keita earning a place in the Team of the Year 2016/17 as a result.
The 22-year-old will now remain with Leipzig for one more season but admits he can’t wait to get started at Anfield.
Keita told the club’s official website: “I am delighted that an agreement has been reached which will allow me to join Liverpool Football Club next summer, when I will become part of a project that excites me greatly.
“My commitment to RBL remains absolute for the remainder of my time at the club. I have given my all every time I have worn the shirt – that will be the case until the final whistle, in my final appearance.
“Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve great things this season. Until I join my new club, next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance.”

Liverpool fans are sure to be delighted by the capture after being linked with Keita throughout the entire window and will now be praying they can land Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
However, they will also be hoping he’s not arriving as a replacement for Emre Can, with the ace out of contract in less than a year’s time.
Juventus have confirmed they will try to snap him up on a free transfer in January.
But Liverpool are sure to try to convince Can to stay put, with the capture of Keita signalling their intention to challenge for silverware in the immediate future.
They are also hoping to add Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk to their ranks as part of a £183million triple swoop involving Lemar and Keita.
